Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), is one of the most common problems for young children and potentially one of the most violent, venomous and hostile ‘continuance’ behaviours.
Problems can start to manifest themselves between ages 1-3 years and get emboldened and more frequent as the child gets older. The more their need to control and their intent to win power struggles, especially as they grow the physical development of strength, then the more their aggressiveness is emboldened. The more intense that they act, the more intensity they will expect from others in reaction.
This is their ultimate ‘win – win’ scenario and they are very extreme. It is all about getting an equal retaliation response.
